Story Synopsis

Midsummer’s Eve, 1925

Driving to meet his fiancée in London, an idealistic young novelist, James Wilson crashes his car on a country road. Walking to the nearby village of Burnt Norton, he meets a journalist Kate Dowden, and agrees to help her investigate a series of brutal and inexplicable murders.

James and Kate discover that exactly one year earlier some of the villagers had lynched a man they suspected of being  a local child-killer, trapping him in the local chapel and burning him alive.

As the Midsummer celebrations begin, several gruesome murders are discovered and the already antagonistic locals become determined to seek revenge and finally destroy the evil which has haunted the village.
